Bio

Kevin Lux has been producing original electronic music since 1981, with official releases beginning in 1995. His work spans multiple styles, including synth pop, electro, industrial, ambient, and synthwave, and often features themed albums that blend both hardware and software production techniques.

Early in his career (1981–1995), he performed under the name !Pulss, creating raw, hardware-based experimental dance music characterized by live improvisation, sampling (including his own voice), complex rhythms, and chaotic melodies.

He also uses an alternate persona, xuLniveK, which explores darker, more experimental, and sometimes humorous musical styles.

Gary Force Field:

Kevin Lux created the persona “Gary Force Field” in 2020 to explore synthwave music through a retro-futuristic concept inspired by 1980s aesthetics. Under this identity, he released albums including Rewind Fee (2023). The character is portrayed as a figure from a “retro future” creating instrumental electronic soundtracks. By 2024, the project evolved beyond synthwave into a more cinematic electro dance and ambient style, marked by the release of Music from the Future.

!Pulss:

!Pulss [pulse] began in the early 1980s as Kevin Lux’s project for raw, improvised, hardware-based experimental dance music. In 1995, he transitioned to releasing music under his own name, Kevin Lux, expanding into various electronic genres and producing over 30 albums. This phase of his Kevin Lux named work was retired in 2022.

2023 – Full Circle:

In 2023, !Pulss was revived by Kevin Lux, returning to its original style of chaotic, semi-melodic improvised electronic dance music while incorporating modern technology and some vintage gear. By 2024, the project expanded to include live performances, bringing !Pulss into the 21st century.
